Even the most robust relationships experience strain during the transition to parenthood. Lack of sleep, never-ending housework, and new fiscal concerns can lead to profound stress and a decline in marital satisfaction—all of which affect baby's care. Not surprisingly, 69% of new parents experience conflict, disappointment, and hurt feelings.
The Bringing Baby Home workshop is a research-based program that prepares you for life with baby, helping you and your partner be the best parenting team possible. In a relaxed and supportive environment, you will learn to strengthen your relationship and foster your baby's development during this challenging time. It is built on the best predictor of marital adjustment after a baby arrives: the quality of friendship in the marriage.
This workshop combines scientific research and public education to improve the quality of life for your baby and children by strengthening your family. It teaches you how to gain relationship satisfaction and create healthy social, emotional, and intellectual development for your children.
If you are expecting a baby, or you have children three years and under, this workshop is for you.
Research shows that this workshop can, among other benefits,
- Increase the joy of parenting through better co-parenting abilities
- Positively influence your baby's development and temperament
- Lead to higher father satisfaction, including more positive father-baby interactions
- Benefit your relationship as a couple
- Diminish symptoms of depression and anxiety after your baby is born.
Along with these benefits, you will take home a box set of cards, tools, and tips to support your relationship.
This workshop is psycho-educational and not therapy. Your guide in this experience is LeMel Firestone-Palerm, a Certified Gottman Therapist.
Babies in arms (i.e., not mobile) are welcome.
